I stayed one night at Hotel Suncity. Through email to travelnow.com I gave my flight details in order to be picked up from the Airport (Free Airport pick-up included in the price). I got a confirmation, but still there wasn´t any taxi waiting for me as I arrived in the middle of the night. I phoned the hotel and they gave me 2 numbers for taxis. I phoned one of them and was promised to be picked up. I waited for half an hour and decided then to pay for a taxi by myself. At the hotel they said, they had never received my flight details. I had my room above the reception in the first floor and you could quite easily hear everything from downstairs. The room itself was clean and okey. Breakfast was not a buffee as it was said to be in the description. You could choose between three types of breakfast (American, Continental and Indian if I recall right), but it was very plain. I wouldn´t recommend this hotel for a longer stay, but for one night it´s okey.
Suncity was "overbooked" and instead was given hotel Vishal which was quite modest basic hotel (without blanket sheets), not at all comparable to offers of Sun City . There were 4 other people also coming to Sun City at the same flight and all were "overbooked". Never saw what Suncity was like.
The hotel was up to standard. Staff was pleasant and helpful. Good location.
This hotel does overbooking and sends people to nearby-located lower category hotels. That is what they also made to us for the first night. Otherwise relatively nice place, ok service and clean rooms in Delhi-standards. A disappointment was that many of the rooms do not have windows.
As compared to its exterior and entrance, the hotel - especially the rooms are quite good, spacious and neat and have all basic amenities a traveller requires. For someone who is going to Delhi for leisure or work it can be the ideal place to stay. However, room service remains poor and food buffs may find the menu a bit limited.
It was good on the whole.
The rooms are extrmely small, with a bad smell, very noisy, and without windows. Apart from this, unfriendly and arrogant employees. I would never come back.
Rooms were good. But amenities like wifi, tv not working properly.
We stayed in Hotel Sunstar for 2 days in December and the experience was horrible. The room looked like a dungeom. Being in the busy Karol Bagh area, there is constant noice all night and several bugs allover the room. We were changed to a different room but it was only slightly better. Having paid an exhorbitant amont of money for COX and KINGS travel agency for out Delhi-Agra-Jaipur trip, we felt cheated. On requesting a different hotel, they told us to pay by ourselves, which we agreed. The travel agent called back witha hotel for 300$ saying thats the only hotel available in Delhi as it was a busy season. We checked on the Internet and got a great deal at the Grand for 125$ and there were tons of other hotels available. COX and Kings is an unreliable travel agent set to cheat unsuspecting foreigners (as we saw many Japanese staying in Hotel Sunstar). DONOT STAY THERE. DO YOUR RESEARCH. LOOK FOR DEALS. and dont become a walking ATM machine!
This place is a good surprise, especially if you have tried the terrible Ajanta hotel before!! Our room was large, clean, confortable, the bathroom huge with an amazing bathtub... The food was also excellent and service above average. I am going back there in few days and definitely recommend it !
Also known as the "Hotel Sunstar Grand". Marble floors and staircase. Nice older style with good furnishings and bed for this medium price range. Clean but worn linens, good service. Plenty of water pressure. Great rooftop terrace for breakfast if you get up early (only one shady table for the latecomers) thankfully breakfast is also cheerfully delivered to your room.
Stayed for two nights. Our room was near the lifts & due to the marble floors noise echoed around. Be wary when checking in of a "reperesentative" who will try to whisk you to his travel agency & sell you an expensive trip to the Taj Mahal.
We stayed in this hotel twice whilst on a group tour of Northern India. Once at the beginning of the tour and then at the end of 15 days. I had looked at photos on the internet and was pleasantly surprised that our room was better than we expected. It was a good size , located at the back and had a window and good sized bathroom. It had marble floors, cable TV, tea and coffee making facilities which was good and the decor was a bit kitsch but okay. It was very clean and the linen was white and fresh and the bed fairly comfortable for India ( so many are like concrete). It was very cold in Dehli in January so we had to ask for extra blankets as the room was freezing. On our final visit our room had a lovely warm heater. It was a bit noisy and we could hear all the goings on at reception ( we were on the ground floor) and also hear people arriving at strange times in the night. The breakfast area is a bit like a dungeon below with no ambience and we were served white toast, jam, hard boiled eggs and there was a choice of a few Indian dishes. The food in the hotel was ordinary compared to what we ate at other restuarants. The location is okay but not really near anything much - the market was closed on a Monday when we were there. It is cheap to catch an auto rickshaw to Connaught Place though and the metro is nearby which is cheap and clean.
Nice hotel close to the city. Fairy noisy at night time but noise level just enough to get some sleep. Room and bathroom were very clean, modern and spacious. Staff friendly and helpful. Overall, a good hotel at a very reasonable price. Ideal for short stays.
I stayed at this hotel in March 2007. I was quoted a price for an executive suite as they said this was all they had available. It was downstairs. At first I thought it was ok as seemed clean but the noise was awful as it was on the ground floor. The only thing was the noise was from the staff playing loud music and shouting to each other all night even when I asked them to be quiet. We asked if we could move rooms and they said we could move to a room upstairs but it would be more money - which I could not understand as they were smaller rooms. When we asked if we could move later to a cheaper room they said they were fully booked. I called the hotel later that day by phone and asked if they had rooms and how much they were - they quoted me 1500 rupees less than the price I paid and said they were available. When I went back to the hotel they tried to charge me more and on checking out were shouting abuse and all sorts. I would never stay at this hotel ever again and advise anyone NOT TO STAY HERE. We are Non resident Indians and they were looking to rip us off so I can only imagine what they do to tourists!!!!
in Delhi 5 Sterne Hotel nehmen oder nichts!!! es gibt kein Konfort unter 5 *****
We found our short stay at the Sun City Hotel a reasonable experience. We stayed there twice during our holiday in India and on both occasions only for one or two nights. Having read the other reviews we phoned the hotel the day before we arrived to confirm the rooms and the airport pick-up. We were meet at the airport by a driver. We had too much luggage though but the guy arranged another taxi to accomodate this. We had booked a twin room and a double but were told that the hotel has no twin rooms. After persisting that this is what we wanted somehow they found us a twin room. The rooms are basic but clean. It seems that the hot water is only on in the morning but I managed a hot shower on two occasions. I have no idea if we were given the Super Deluxe rooms we booked though. The rooms on the first floor appear to have been decorated more recently that the ones on the third floor. There is no resturant on site but an extensive room service menu. The hotel were good at booking us taxis to go to the train station and the return to the airport. There is also an auto rickshaw stand on the opposite corner which is a great means of transport in Delhi. Once we realised that there is no such thing as customer service in India everything seemed to become a lot easier. You really just need to persist and be firm and things somehow seem to go your way although you still have to take some hassle. TIP: If you go out on the town remember to take a card at the reception with the hotel details. All of the auto-rickshaw and taxi drivers that we used got us to Channa market but none of them knew the exact location of the Hotel.
Having booked and prepaid for the Sunstar Grand with an online booking service we confirmed the booking and arranged airport pickup with the hotel directly. On arrival in India our first dissapointment was no airport pickup. On arrival at the hotel at 3:00 AM we suffered our next dissapontment when the staff indicated the hotel was full already with was no place for us, we found a substitute hotel with the help of our cab driver.. Subsequent attempts to resolve the issue for refund of money were met with attempts to blame the incident on us for leaving the hotel when requested but not being able to be contacted when they found their mistake.
Booked a three-night stay directly with the hotel. Is a basic, no-frills hotel and would have been adequate if we did not experience problems. Bed linens are thin and old. Urinal cake balls placed in the sink and the shower, don’t know why? The included breakfast, we skipped, consisted of cold toast, coffee, tea, and juice. The tables were filled with dirty dishes when we arrived and no attendant insight to clear them. Our bad experiences: Thirty minutes after checking into room 206, a sewage smell filled the bathroom and the entire room. After speaking with the front desk, someone came and sprayed air freshener. The smell continued, so we requested another room. We were given room 305, and were not aware of its location directly below the kitchen and tiny rooftop restaurant. The second issue with the room, every time we flushed the toilet, it leaked water on the floor from the pipe where it connects to the wall. Not very sanitary. We were kept up all night long by loud banging sounds despite no customers in the restaurant. I think I was able to sleep from 2am to 4am, then the noises started again. Turning on the AC did not help to drown out the construction-like noise. At midnight we called around the city for an alternative place to stay. Checked out of the Sun City the next morning. Front staff had to call the manager since we were checking out early. After telling him the reasons we were checking out, he yelled at us, called us a lair because no body else complained about sewage smells, or the noise from the kitchen. He said the toilet could have been fixed, sure, but how long would that have taken!
When I arrived at the hotel I was given a room on the ground floor situated next to the lift. Even though I booked the super deluxe room, I was given a standard room. When I complained to the reception, I was given another room, which was of the same size but at least was on the 3rd floor away from the lift. I was trying to ascertain from several members of hotel staff what kind of room I was staying at, but I was being told that it was a deluxe room and when I told them that I booked the super deluxe room, I was then told that it was a super deluxe room. There was no hot water throughout on the day of my arrival and no running water whatsoever on the day of my departure. When I tried to discuss the problem with hotel staff, they pretended that they did not speak English. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone.
The Reception people are not very welcoming; they just ask for you passports and make you sign the guestbook. The service here is extraordinary, the bell boy took my bag to our room via the elevator, when we arrived at the room there was another bell-boy waiting there who opened the door for me then another bell-boy appeared out of nowhere who turned on the lights, that’s three bell boys at the same time! All three of them wanted tipping!! 10 mins later there was a knock at the door, and yet another bell-boy with our passports from reception, and another tip!!! The SunCity website is not a true representation of what you actually get, very airbrushed to say the least. However they do describe the room service as “a round the clock room service ensures that you are attended to by our bevy of attendants” well they got that bit right!! The room that we paid for was a “Super Deluxe Double” room that was very small with a bathroom that had wall tiles that did not reach to the window frames by 3 inches, I found all manor of things down in the gap. We had to take cold showers as there was no hot water on the three days that we stayed in this hotel. All the windows were very very dirty, I wrote “clean me” on them with my finger before leaving. I hate to think what a standard room would have been like. There is no bar or restaurant at this hotel however you can order food and drinks via room service who will bring a tray to your room. Don’t forget to tip. The food here is OK and safe to eat. This hotel is situated in a near the busy market area about 5 mins walk away and is good for clothes shopping. At night the whole area takes on a different atmosphere and makes for interesting walks among the locals who will take a real interest in you as you pass by them as they stand outside their homes in the cooler night air.
